Bose L1 Pro16 New Zealand

Bose L1 Pro16

Dubbed “the sweet spot” by Bose, the Pro16 sits in the middle of the L1 Pro range.

Lightweight, compact, powerful, and easy to transport, the L1 Pro16 has multiple inputs across the three channel mixer panel, phantom power, reverb, Bluetooth, and a variety of EQ options.

The built-in 10″ x 18″ subwoofer matches the stand-alone Sub1 that is often coupled with the larger L1 Pro32 system, and of course you can easily pair an additional Sub1 or even Sub2 for extra kick.

Plus – you can plug in a Tonematch T4s or T8s mixer with a single cable.  Just one cable does power AND audio signal between your mixer and L1 Pro16.

“Win by Association”

The BOSE EFFECT.  Something Bose doesn’t advertise.

Something unique happens when you start using Bose at events for the first time.  Guests take notice of the gear.  Professional entertainers will always say it’s not about the gear, that the gear doesn’t make the performance.  If guests recognise and trust a brand and associates that trust with your brand, how is that a bad thing?

Bose makes great product, your guests recognise that and trust you even more.  Even if only subconsciously, you’re “better by association“.

Clothing and shoe labels, alcohol and beverage manufacturers, even other electronic companies pay billions to associate their brand with celebrities and sports stars.  Rugby games improve because of the boots, night life is more fun because of the clothing, even hangovers are worth it because the guy from that movie drinks the same bottle.

If guests at an event know the Bose brand, they trust the user.  Winning by association.

Stereo L1 Pro16?

Bose L1 Pro systems work a little different to traditional speakers.  For many looking at the Pro16 for the first time, it can take time to get used to the “one speaker is enough” concept.

Thanks to the truly wide dispersion with 180 degree coverage, just a single Pro16 is more than enough in most rooms.  An L1 Pro in the corner of a dance floor or centre stage will fill the room with sound side to side.  Plus being a type of array, a single L1 Pro16 puts more sound at the back of the room at a “comfortable” level than a pair of conventional speakers.

That said, there’s no reason why you can’t or shouldn’t run a pair of L1 Pro16.  If your playback material is mono, be sure to get at least 5 or 6 metres (side to side) between your two L1 Pro16 units.

If you’re Bluetooth streaming, you will need to ensure you can play your audio using the Bose Music app to pair with both Pro16s systems simultaneously.

How Loud Is It?

There are numbers, and then there’s those other numbers.

Watts

For some, the 1000w subwoofer amp and 250w amp driving the column array are the numbers that matter.  1250 Watts RMS is a very comforting number.

 SPL

Other users rely on SPL to measure the accuracy to usability of a sound system.  L1 Pro16 = 118 dB (124 dB peak)

For a better explanation of exactly how these power ratings add up, plus a Pro32 vs Pro16 comparison, please take the time to read the L1 Wiki here.  It’s an independant collection of facts, figures, and experiences from “ST”, a Canadian base independant Bose guru.

Easy to Transport

When you consider the size of the room the Bose L1 Pro16 is capable of handling, 23kg just doesn’t seem heavy enough.

The Racetrack subwoofer driver means Bose can squeeze the equivalent of a 12″ sub into the L1 Pro16 base unit.  The speaker array separates from the base unit and the three components slip into the optional Pro16 Rollerbag.

There’s room inside the Rollerbag for a Tonematch T4s or T8s, a bunch of essential power and audio cables, maybe a laptop.  Some users even fit their Bose S1 Pro inside the Rollerbag along with the L1 Pro16 itself.

Wheel an entire sound system into your even with one hand!
